Distraction 1: Deathwing Knight

Yesterday Games Workshop was giving away their new sculpt of the Deathwing Knight model as the Miniature of the Month in their stores. This one was near and dear to my heart because the very first models I collected and fell in love with in my teens were Deathwing terminators. So as soon as I was done with work for the day I zoomed over to the nearest Warhammer store and picked up the model.

17 pieces for this little guy!

Once again, I got a wild idea on my way home and decided to build, prep, and paint the model from start to finish in a single sitting. Getting it off of the sprue, trimming, and assembly took about half an hour. Then I primed it and went through my undercoating process, which took about another hour thanks to my handy dandy blow dryer. The next 3 hours were spent lovingly applying colors. Below are step by step images of the process.

All put together.
Primed in Seer Grey
Washed with Agrax Earthshade
Drybrushed with Seer Grey then White Scar
The first few colors coming together…
Pretty much done!
Not too bad for a single session!
Last one, I promise

It is inevitable that from time to time I will get sidetracked by little projects that catch my eye. They don’t get in the way of the larger project, but rather act as a little break when it begins to feel like work. See you next time!
